Staying near Chichester weather looks iffy so if we can't go to beach where do you recommend?

Thanks

Weald and Downland Museum, Fishers Farm age dependent but my 9 year old and 3 year old both love it there. You could drive to Portsmouth and do the historic dockyard or Gunwharf Quays with discount shopping and the Spinnaker Tower.

If you are doing the beach, then check the tide times. West Wittering you’ll need to book the car park in advance as it is a private beach, it is sandy but the tide goes out for miles. East Wittering/Bracklesham are pebbles but sand when the tide goes out and it doesn’t go out as far. The car park is small at Bracklesham - get there early and have breakfast at Billy’s on the Beach. The car parks at East Wittering/Bracklesham are council ones, just turn up and pay.

You can get day visitor tickets to Butlins, lots to do there. Also Arundel Castle and the Wildfowl Trust. The Flying Fortress at Ford was always great on wet days but not sure if that's open because of restrictions. Picturedrome in Bognor is a super cheap cinema. Littlehampton has a nice beach and riverfront with a funfair. Southsea also has a funfair. Or you could get the hovercraft to the Isle of Wight for the day.

Chichester gold club has a fun crazy golf course, great for kids.

Sorry, didn't mean to post twice! It said it hadn't posted the first time and then I remembered the crazy golf! Have a great holiday!

fairydustandpixies · 22/08/2020 17:56

*golf not gold! Oh ffs...!

Aviation museum.

Need to book online.

Littlehampton, Bognor etc. May not be sitting on the beach wether but there's stuff to do.

Or visit camping world on the A279 road to Bognor.

Ds and I had a great time today exploring the air tents and then had a lovely drink and cake in the cafe. Take £1 coins for fish food!

The industrial museum at Amberley is very good.

There's a trampoline place in Chichester - flip out I think.

WhoAteAllTheWotsits · 24/08/2020 11:35

Also cineworld, Air Arena and McDonald’s/kfc type places at Chichester Gate. Hotham park in Bognor is very good, nice cafe, crazy golf and play area for the kids.

BlackPuddingEggs · 24/08/2020 11:55

Chichester museum is quite good. It’s free but you need to book slots at the moment. But I guess it depends on your kids ages and interests. Mine have always liked going but only for an hour or so.

Walking around the city walls with stop to play in Priory Park?

The Trundle and Kingley Vale are good for walking/ roaming about. I guess it depends if the weather is not beach suitable or if it’s lashing with rain!

Weald and Downland is fab

Fishbourne Roman Palace

holiidayhelp1234 · 25/08/2020 07:50

Well.. We are here and it is lashing with rain☔️☔️😩

Dc is 7 with the attention span of a gnat so definitely need kid focused stuff rather than adult stuff like museums. Thanks for all the suggestions so far

WhoAteAllTheWotsits · 25/08/2020 09:07

Definitely try the trampoline parks, they are a good bet and soft play which I think is open now - there’s a good one at Havant leisure centre and one at Littlehampton. Not sure about swimming pools as I think it’s just open for lane swimming only.

Also just seen that Little Street in Chichester is open! That’s fab, I would definitely recommend it 😊
