Hoseasons cock up - asked to leave holiday early

We are on a long-awaited holiday in the UK. I booked with Landal because we had a great holiday with them In Belgium last summer. Yesterday morning was reading an article about how Hoseasons have cancelled holidays www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-53758385 feeling smug I’d ‘booked direct’ with Landal.
A few hours later, I had a phone call saying we had to leave our holiday early. Turns out Hoseasons handles Landal in the UK and neither is the actual provider, and the place we were in was fully booked

Spent the entire afternoon and evening getting to the bottom of who actually sold me a holiday.
And now the Hoseasons ad for a “Staycation” is at the top of my screen.
Words to the wise: 1. A staycation is actually when you stay in your own home.

  1. Hoseasons are rubbish.
  2. Always book direct. I thought I had. So the final point is to make triple sure you know the seller of what you’re buying

Oh and make sure emails quote the amount promised not just "amount we discussed yesterday" you need actual evidence should you need to take it to small claims or something.

I was think this too.

So now we are arguing, kids are sitting on iPads, we’ve packed up everything, and it’s so disruptive.

If we move out now given that last email, we will have chosen to leave.
So annoyed.

Don’t leave, switch off the screens and get on with your day. They can’t physically make you leave x

imamum21 · 15/08/2020 10:31

i would tell them you paid for it so you will be staying put, they can cancel the next person.

if they dont agree tell them they will need to refund you in full or wait until Monday when you can call and get advice from cab.

tell them they can offer the next family a hotel until you leave.

JulesCobb · 15/08/2020 11:08

Id literally reply,

Unfortunately, that doesn't work for me.

JulesCobb · 15/08/2020 11:08

In tat email they have not put what the compensation is either. Just what was discussed. So notnwritten conformation. They can jog on.

Phoenix21 · 15/08/2020 11:27

Did you pay at least £100 on a credit card? If so you might be able to claim a s75 for the full amount as you did not receive the service/product you paid for.

What a shit situation.

Or just no!

After all it's a complete sentence WinkGrin

The Boycott Hoseasons FB page has many appalling stories on it... they've been double booking all summer, and many are alleging they are cancelling long ago booked holidays so they can charge more to people looking now.

ithinkiveseenthisfilmbefore · 15/08/2020 11:37

You might as well stay put. They've likely already spun a tale of fake woe to the family that was booked next to use it. Or families, based on the tales of their double booking scandals.

Jaffajiffy · 15/08/2020 11:43

Right. We have stayed in the fucking lodge despite the guilt.

Dear
Thank you for your message.we will stay in the lodge. I confess I am confused by your sentence saying there will be no further refund. You made it very clear yesterday that you were not at fault here, and so I tried to work with you to ensure you could honour the bookings coming in today. I am absolutely not happy with having a whole day of my holiday disrupted, but we do prefer to stay in the lodge and will do so. I will separately complain to Landal about the disruption to our holiday.

We have just spoken on this but thought I’d send the email as it’s helpful to have it in writing.

Hi Mrs x

I have great news I have cancelled arrivals today so now you can continue to stay in the lodge as your original booking. This issues has been resolved and you can carry on enjoying your holiday and there will be no further refund, please accept our sincere apologies for the disruption caused to your booking, as compensation for this error we do have availability in the evergreen spa today around 5pm if you would like to book a treatment. Please let me know.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I paid via PayPal so could claim on that I guess. I’ve got Landal NL responding via twitter now so hope for something for past 24h mess.

I have seen a number of stories of Hoseasons cancelling holidays and they all seem to be anything that involves a partial week ie your last 3 days are a partial week.
Slightly Shock at the manager's casual attitude to cancelling other bookings on the arrival day too.

PotterHead1985 · 15/08/2020 11:59

Yea i have noticed it seems to be any that have part week days that are getting dumped.

Jaffajiffy · 15/08/2020 20:40

You’re so right on the part weeks.

It’s all gone quiet on the customer service front since this morning. I’m convinced had we moved out we would have been sayonara to any compensation.
