Hi
So I'm looking at getting away for a few days at the end of August and it's possible to get to Bristol quite cheaply.
It would just be me - looking for a change of scenery probably more rural than city based ideally - I've never been to the Cheddar would that be somewhere I could spend a couple of days?

Or coast wise is there any seaside resorts that are naice within a couple of hours drive ?

Cotswolds, South Wales coast, New Forest, North Devon coast, Dorset should all be feasible in a couple of hours or so of Bristol. Plenty to choose from, your biggest struggle might be finding accommodation, particuarly if you're looking at the bank holiday week.

Cheddar is pretty but close to Bristol and small and so heaving at the moment. Everywhere will be busy at the end of August but with Emma's suggestions above you'll be sharing a much bigger space with the hordes.

Jurassic coast is spectacular and so long as you avoid Lyme itself, it's not usually ridiculously busy. Likewise North Devon. Though who knows this year!

Thanks folks I'll have a look accommodation is indeed a bit thin on the ground

Is Sidmouth a nice place?

I've never been I'm afraid but have a poke about on google streetview, that usually gives you a good indication of the state of a place!

Sidmouth is a lovely resort, nicer than Seaton.Beer is also lovely but narrow streets may be difficult for SD.The nearest coastal resorts to Bristol are Brean and Weston super Mare, not been to either of them for years

@daisy118 thank you. We once spent a lovely afternoon in Beer on the way somewhere, but I've had a look and there's no accommodation available, whereas Sidmouth has a few nice options. Feeling optimistic I might get away Smile
