Sorry - being a bit lazy - but what’s the best way to go? I guess I may need to get a taxi from wherever the nearest station is?

Alos, how do I get the cheapest train tickets?

Thank you!

You could get train to Falmouth and boat across to St Mawes (not sure if boats are running or not with covid) or bus from Truro (taxi would be quite pricey).

St Mawes ferry is running from Falmouth: www.falriver.co.uk/ferries/st-mawes-ferry

You’d have to walk from the train station (I’d suggest Falmouth Town) but it’s fairly flat through town, probably about half a mile.

Great, thank you!

And any tips for train tickets?

Get the price for the whole journey, then try splitting it and getting multiple tickets between e.g. London and where you have to change trains and that point to Falmouth. See which is cheaper.
