Can anyone recommend a Welsh campsite please?

Hi there, looking for Welsh campsite recommendations for a week.

Would be camping in a large family tent, not bothered about electric hook up or not.

Main wants are lots of space between tents, space in front of tents for toddlers to run around, immaculate toilet/shower block and walking distance to a sandy beach.

Not looking for a lively/commercial/butlins type site just a quiet site with lots of privacy/space in nature with a lovely beach. Thank you!

And I mean every one!

Cowpots camping. Fabulous!

WelshCampsiteWanted · 04/08/2020 22:32

Just had a quick browse at the two recommended, you’re right. Fully booked up! This is going to be a needle in a haystack search.

This place is close to lots of nice beaches but not walkable. Lots of space and very covid cautious!

@MrsBungle glad you said that, we booked the last pitch available in August a month ago, very excited. Any tips?!?!

I was about to recommend this. I’m not sure if they are fully booked though...

Tyddyn Isaf has all that....the beach is excellent through a private walkway. You may get lucky as you don’t want a hookup. Their non hookup field is often free. I would call!

You literally will not get one for this summer unless somewhere has a last minute cancellation.

I tried looking for similar. Didn’t even care how the facilities were so long as they existed (toilet & shower) but absolutely nothing.

This is all I’m hearing. My friend managed to get a cancellation last week - booked late Saturday and arrived on Monday.

There is absolutely nothing about at the moment.

We booked during lockdown as they guaranteed a refund and we are so glad we did otherwise we’d be going nowhere at all...

Managed to find a lovely campsite but toilet/shower facilities are closed. Hmm.. questioning whether we’re that desperate for a break. We may well be...Blush

This is excellent but not near the beach but on lake.
Usually has room too

fish and anchor inn campsite might have a space? Never visited but they say that they are 20 mins from the coast. might be worth calling (you can't book via the website)

Could give Oxwich Bay camping a call. But they have a heated pool so am guessing they'll be booked up. On Gower incidentally, not up north.

Austereorange · 05/08/2020 12:39

Have you phone tyddyn isaf which I linked above? No good using their online system as they mostly assume you want a hookup. If you speak to them and explain you’d be happy with a no hook pitch then they may be able to find you a space they are very very accommodating. They

May be fully booked now but on Facebook last week I think they said they had some midweek availability

Lleithyr Farm near St David’s in Pembrokeshire has loads of grassy space in the middle of the camping field where the kids can play. Small collection of farm animals to look at and play area. Walking distance to Whitesands gorgeous sandy beach.

WelshCampsiteWanted · 05/08/2020 17:18

Austereorange - yes rang this morning, fully booked just been told to keep a look out for cancellations.

Thank you to all other recommendations! Spent the day ringing around, managed to get a few night’s mid-week non-electric but will keep looking and keep that for a back up (hoping it will still be there if I need to go back to it Blush)

Are you mad? You’re not the only one ringing round. You should have snapped that up there & then if you need a camping break!
