I have a nearly 5yo DD who has an obsession with stepping stones. I'd love to take her on some walks where we can go over stepping stones.

Bonus points for Yorkshire!

Thanks Smile

Bolton Abbey for sure. I think Harewood have some too

Hooperjooper · 23/07/2020 16:53

Bolton Abbey. And they're better than usual because they're one way at the moment so there's no awkward pile up in the middle!

IveSeenThings · 23/07/2020 16:53

Just over into Lancashire, but Uppermill has stepping stones.

senua · 23/07/2020 16:53

I was going to mention Hathersage. We were exploring that way once and dh, looking at his walking app, confidently asserted that there was a bridge up ahead and if we kept going it would be a quick route back to our holiday cottage. Well, it turned out to be those stepping stones and the river was running high and fast. Dh and ds1 managed it but me and ds2 didn't dare. I made dh go back to get the car to pick us up a bit further on. So funny, we laugh about it every time he looks at that bloody app!

Borrow dale but you’ll have to head north to the Lakes.

I’m with your DD on this, there’s something about stepping stones Smile.

FloreanFortescue · 23/07/2020 18:06

Thanks for these! You're officially better than google which didn't help too much! I love stepping stones too so it'll be a lovely day out Smile please keep them coming if there are any more!

There's some at Forbidden Corner in Wensleydale (need to book in advance). Aysgarth falls is also nearby which is pleasant.

Keepyourconversationsboring · 23/07/2020 18:14

Dovedale & Chee Dale in the Peak District - Chee Dale is generally quieter though 😀

ArsenicNLace · 23/07/2020 18:23

There are stepping stones at Hardcastle Crags in Hebden Bridge. See attached photo.

Please tell me about stepping stones!

Someone I follow on insta just posted some v cool ones in Bruton, Somerset - bit far but maybe you'll go on holiday and be looking for some stepping stone action Grin

KatyChe · 23/07/2020 18:47

Thanks @ArsenicNLace

That’s not too far from us and I didn’t know they were there.

I’m going to save this thread and do a stepping stones tour Smile.

Cannon Hall. Not far from the M1, junction 37

KarrieKay · 25/07/2020 19:50

Bolton Abbey, whitewell - been to both recently and you need to book to park at Bolton Abbey but it was totally worth it! Round whitewell was quieter.
Another slightly odd one - Martin Mere WWT has some in a small lake
