Best day out in Wales

I am taking the kids to Alton Towers in the next couple of weeks, then plan to head somewhere in Wales to stay overnight and have a family day in Wales.

If you were going to Wales for one day, where would you go and what would you do please?

Llangollen steam railway.

RAF Museum at Cosford on the way back (its free).

Red Kite feeding near Devils Bridge (Free but I think you have to pay for the car park)

Llandudno - tram up the Great Orme, cable car down again.

Assuming that all of these things are going to be open.

I always fancied visiting this place:

In good weather, Bala Lake is lovely, as is the Llangollen steam railway.

Zipworld seems to be closed now ((

Zipworld is definitely open, just not all of the attractions, we’re planning on going on the Forest Coaster when we’re there later this month.

Greenwood Forest Park is nice.

If you were looking further south, Heatherton World of Adventure and the Great Wedlock Dinosaur Experience are great.

Some good North Wales ideas here

I would drive this route as plenty to see and do on the way even if places are closed. As you leave the A55 at junction 31 to head for Dyserth Greggs is open so you can get food for the day. Take a touch and the kids can have a look in the small cave in Dyserth woods at the top of the water fall.

You could do a small detour to see the Funship

Some times we just stop and spend the day at one place sometimes we make it to the end of the route.
