Would we be allowed to go to Alton Towers from Scotland?

Have annual leave booked from 26th June to 9th July, we were supposed to be going to Holland for 9 nights by ferry from Hull but have cancelled that. Heard Alton Towers is opening again from 4th July with limited numbers in park, social distancing measures etc. We went last summer and kids had a great time. They are 5 and 9 and have an understanding on need to distance from others.

We were debating if it would be an idea to book for a couple of nights before we are due back at work, then remembered about conditions of phase 2 up here in Scotland (driving locally only). Feeling gutted abou this, am I right in thinking we would be in trouble if stopped by police before we got to the England border? Wont have another opportunity before schools return in August, and when we hopefully move into less restrictive phases, as we work round each other for childcare.

You know the route map answer. We are not expected to be in phase 3 until 15th July.

Well you can't currently drive that far here in Scotland, and in England you can't book to stay anywhere currently unless you are a key worker and need somewhere for work. So as the rules currently stand, that would be a no I'm afraid.

Also from an Alton Towers perspective, currently the grounds are open to wander around but rides and attractions are t planned to restart till 4th July and that will be dependant on infection numbers.

The 5 miles is guidance for how far you can travel for exercise...ie don't all flock for a walk at Loch Lomond. It's not a 5 mile travel limit.
