DP and I have decided we would like to leave London, and due to the industry I work in as a freelancer, we've narrowed it down to Bristol and Glasgow. We don't know many people in either place, and family are scattered all over so those aren't really factors.
We'd like more space, closer access to countryside, and have decided we wouldn't want to be in a city but close enough to cycle or a short journey by train in.
Kids are 5 and 2.5, so schools are a factor. Would like my kids to have some freedom as they grow up (which in S London where we are they probably wouldn't), and small town/village community.
I know I'm asking for quite a lot!
We need to go and visit both places but in current lockdown situation not possible - so can anyone advise or share any thoughts?

Glasgow is a really nice city to live in with great access to the outdoors. It’s also very affordable (compared to other part of the UK) for housing. Lots of good schools too.

I don’t know much about Bristol but I’m pretty sure the weather is better than in Glasgow.

I've lived in both and would say they have cultural similarities however you will get a LOT more house for your money in Glasgow, especially if your willing to be a distance from the city. School system is very different so I would research that more as it will influence your decision.
