UK location for families

As a family we have always taken holidays abroad but are now thinking, for obvious reasons, to take a UK trip next time.

Hoping to get away for the October half term but will clearly depend on the safety and practicality to do so.

Can anybody suggest any good locations with a 12 year old boy (and a 1 year old boy!)?

He loves theme parks, swimming, gaming so typical of that age range.

I was thinking about Centre Parks but seems expensive for what it is? My partner and I would prefer more scenery such as the Scottish Highlands, but worried the potential lack of activities would leave a 12 year old bored...particularly when he is used to an all inclusive resort with loads to do for kids.

Price/budget is, within reason, not a blocker.

clarach bay holiday park might be worth a look? (link to website included). There is lots to do on site (swimming pool, tennis courts, arcade etc) but you are also near Aberystwyth so could go and see the castle ruins etc.

Have a look at Tummel Valley holiday park, Hunters Quay holiday park, Lochgoilhead Lodges and Landal Piperdam.

Look at the Aviemore MacDonald resort, I think it should tick all your boxes for swimming, things to do and scenery. Aviemore is a great base for families.
Personally I think Centre Parcs is over priced and over hyped, i wasn't at all impressed.

Or Crieff Hydro might suit? www.crieffhydro.com/

I'd go to the Watergate Bay hotel in Cornwall. Loads to do for teens and the Cornish cliff paths are just as spectacular as the Scottish Highlands (in their own way).
Cornwall is fab in Oct, it's often quite warm and we have had beach days with the kids in swimsuits.
Your 12 yr old is just the tight age to get into surfing.
