TAXI?

primigravida · 17/09/2007 12:44

Catch the underground to from Heathrow to Marylebone and then an overland train from Marylebone to Beaconsfield and then a bus (doesn't run on Sundays so you might need a taxi) from there to High Wycombe. Good luck, we went from Clapham Junction to High Wycombe yesterday and it took us over an hour so allow lots of time.

RTKangaMummy · 17/09/2007 12:45

HERE IS A DIRECT BUS ROUTE

mumblechum · 17/09/2007 12:46

NOOOO!

The Station to London from Wycombe is Marylebone. So you need to get to Marylebone on the Bakerloo line. From Marylebone to Wycombe is 35 to 50 mins depending whether you get the express.

Wycombe is our local station so I've done the trip into London loads fo times, not so sure on the underground bit.

How much would a taxi be its about 15 miles I think, sounds like such a palavour getting undergound train then a bus.

I could drive but that took us over 6hrs last time and this will be a regular journey for the next two years.

When we get taxis to London it's typically £120 return. Try Marlow Taxis.

Skribble · 17/09/2007 12:49

OOh bus is spot on as long as we arrive before 18.30.

Or .... how do I get to marlybone from heathrow, underground map is doing my head in!!!

Also depends on time of day. My dh drives (we're 6 miles from Wycombe) to the Heathrow area and it takes 1.25 hours in the rush hour, or 45 mins non rush hour.

Skribble · 17/09/2007 12:50

£120 for a taxi!!! company will think we are taking the piss. there will be 6 of us though

RTKangaMummy · 17/09/2007 12:50

Go on the bus then

£22 for a weekly ticket

so alot less for single ticket

Tutter · 17/09/2007 12:54

6 hours???????!

we live 15 mins from hw

from here it's 25 mins to heathrow

Skribble · 17/09/2007 12:54

Open return for the bus would be £12 as we would be staying for 2 nights.

If we don't get flights that arrive before 18.30 we are snookered though.

My cousin lives in High Wycombe, there is no direct way of doing from Heathrow. The cheapest most direct way of doing it is prebooking a taxi which I think should be around £35 - £40, using a local taxi firm which I guess you would need to google. If you don't pre book a black cab will cost around £70.00.

Skribble · 17/09/2007 12:57

6hrs that was from home to high wycombe.

Only 2 of us took turns driving down due the the inssurance, and we drove straight back up after the meeting so i after midnight as I have another 1hr to drive myself after picking up my own car.

We thought we would try flying this time to see if it works out any better, but its the transport once we get off the plane that is the pain. Not even sure about getting around and to meeting place once in High wycombe.

Sorry didn't see RTKangas message, bus seems much the best way to go

Skribble · 17/09/2007 13:00

So if I prebook a minibus taxi it would be cheaper than a bus anyway.

Skribble · 17/09/2007 13:01

So is it best to prebook a highwycombe taxi to pick up at the airport and will they get access as I know there is regulations about which taxis get access to airports.

Glasgow to High Wycombe took us about 6hrs, that included pee stops where it took half an hour to round up the smokers stub out the fags and prise them back in the vehicle. If you could do that in 35mins I would be impressed .

rookiemum · 17/09/2007 21:18

I'm sure if you pre book a taxi they will be allowed access to the airport, maybe google and find a company and give them a ring.

RTKangaMummy · 17/09/2007 21:22

When we went by taxi to Heathrow in July

All the taxi cars drove up to the departures to the waiting area

ie the middle island - drop off zone

we were picked up from same place too

Skribble · 19/09/2007 15:39

I phoned a few companies for quotes and they seemed quite happy to pick uop at heathrow. Should be between £35 and £45 so cheaper than the bus.
