Adore him and he is so caring and does amazing things for me. I'd like to do something special for him. Birthday is in March.

Criteria is

Near a beach
preferably able to see some stars (so dark sky)
Needs to be roughly no further than 3 hours drive from leeds or easy airport access
Price range under 200/300 pound
and two night break maybe

Any help appreciated. I asked him a question and he said he'd like to be surprised and last night said....he's very excited. Feel under pressure lol
He's the one that normally does something for other people so think he's liking the idea of being treated lol

We went to Cornwall a couple of years ago in March. It was really quiet, we had lots of windy walks on the beaches, and were close enough to Lands End, St Ives, and St Michaels Mount.

We stayed here www.unastives.co.uk/, and you can fly to Newquay from Leeds.

Good luck.

I'm not a fan of surprises though OH is very keen. It's just such a pity you can't talk it through. The planning can be such a lovely part of any holiday.

Hope you find the right place.

Thank you Toria.....return flights for the dates needed are 138...for us both. very doable depending on accommodation
The hotel looks lovely.....having a good look around newquay area for acommodation.

Finally - it would be preferred that he would help plan it....but his face seems to be set on a surprise eek hahaha

Kielder in Northumberland? Lovely lodges (some have dark skies viewing) it's a designated dark skies park. Swimming pool in site, not on the beach but a huuugge reservoir, tonnes of walking/cycling, not far from the Northumberland coast if you need sea. Lovely pubs nearby and a couple of bars/eateries on site

Brancaster , North Norfolk. Amazing beach and when we stayed there in the winter a few years ago the stars in the night sky were glorious.
Loads of good pubs, seafood and out of season accommodation should be reasonable.
Easily drivable from Leeds in three hours, i'd have thought.
Disclaimer -- no real knowledge of rates at that time of year (high season is expensive, i do know that!) but you could check out Air B n B, ordinary B and Bs, self catering etc.

Hmm. just googled it and driving time via A17 is 3 hours 14 minutes .
(Don't know about you but we find we can usually shave a bit of time from these estimates when we actually do the drive, and that estimate would be for this time, i.e. mid morning on a Monday. )

Thanks Ginger and Tarty!!

I will look at both....do they do activity days in kielder and Norfolk (shuffling off to quickly google)
