Best Family friendly UK Budget hotels?

mamma001 · 22/01/2020 13:16

Hi,
Can anyone recommend any good UK budget hotels that are in good locations for exploring attractions with the family. Want to look at a week or 5 nights away for 4 under £500 if possible, to include cheap but good accomodation, food and a small allowance for day trips etc, in one of the school holidays. I am sure this is possible with a bit of researching hotels like premier inn or travelodge, but just wandered if anyone can share any ideas? Many thanks

Where are you based?
would be do able in North Wales
Conwy, Llandudno and Caernarfon all have premier inns if you choose wisely you can get some good deals, loads of stuff to do cheaply locally too have a root around on here
www.donthibernate.co.uk
Aldi and Lidl have opened up quite a few stores in North Wales so food can be bought cheap so try to make your own as much as possible
Would you consider a caravan, lots for rent on Facebook?

Midlands based. Done a few trips to Wales but will check out those areas and that site too. Will look at caravans, but some of the holiday parks still seem expensive in the holidays. Many thanks 😊

What you need is a site that's not commercialised and just rents a few out, I will have a think as I have seen some in the past.
Would you go cross country to wales our M6 M56?
Might be worth asking local tourist offices and looking for a farm with a few caravans
This might be too expensive, son stayed last Feb lovely site and nice people, might be over budget though?www.siabodhuts.co.uk/moel-siabod.php

Try cottages on Snap trip, best for last minute but worth a look.
This place does Glamping

Its near Llanbedrog a fantastic beach on the Llyn peninsular.
There must be a cheap caravan somewhere its just a matter of finding it

OK a little alternative this one.... I took my children on a short adventure one holidays and it was dirt cheap.. Yorkshire Wildlife Park (stayed at premier Inn in Doncaster (lakeside), then we went to Yorkshire sculpture park and then we went down a mine at the national Coal mine museum near Wakefield (also cheap local premier inns). Could add days in Hull, on coast or around leeds/Sheffield. Stockeld Park???

I've booked 2 nights in a family room in a Premier Inn in the Peak District in the Easter hols for £77! Lots of places to visit in the area such as Heights of Abraham, Crich Tramway etc. They do a breakfast deal where kids eat free, we will grab sandwiches for lunch at the nearby Tesco Express and have a pub meal in the evening. Done similar trips to Liverpool & Edinburgh, not quite that cheap though! Do love a Premier Inn!

Use premier, if you don't sleep due to noise, they refund the night.

Also look at Stay Play Explore. Hotel deals that include entry to 3 local attractions.

I was thinking premier inn Peak District too. Loads to so. Buxton is a great base.

Also IOM, loads to do for a week and great trains and buses, foot passengers from Liverpool is cheap. Great beaches.

Re Isle of Man, ring the steam packet about sail and rail, with a railcard it’s incredibly cheap A’s foot passengers. We did for 5 of us from York for under a £100 return.

We stayed at the weekend in a Premier Inn in Edinburgh which was the best we've been in, very central and modern and about £60 a night including breakfast (adults paid, kids ate free). Would be perfect for a city break style holiday with the kids.

@CatUnderTheStairs we're staying at the Buxton PI. Absolute bargain! I booked ages ago though, well before xmas so not sure if still that price!

@PineappleDanish we stayed at the York Place PI in Edinburgh but there are several. Great stay and a short walk to everything. No parking but we travelled by train using a railcard - another bargain!

Such great feedback. Thanks all. Done Crich, Buxton, Doncaster lakeside, yorkshire wildlife, but I am going to explore all the other ideas too. With this I may have a few short breaks we can go on. Thank you again!
