Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced family room in a hotel or an apartment in London?

Citadines Apart'hotel Trafalgar is a short walk from Charing Cross station and the West End. There are options that comfortably sleep up to 6 with a fully-equipped kitchenette. Breakfast is available on the ground floor at an extra cost.
The Parkwood hotel is excellent value right by Hyde Park and the Marble Arch Tube station. It is a simple hotel with one room that can accommodate a family of five. It is actually two rooms and a bathroom, the first bedroom containing a queen or full bed and the second room containing three (third bed arranged upon request) single beds. The room is near the top level of the hotel and there is no elevator/lift due to the historic restrictions on the building.

The Hilton doubletree docklands hotel has great family rooms that fit 5. The views over the river are great, and you can get on a free boat that takes you over to Canary Wharf to get on the dlr or tube.

We've stayed a few times and always found it lovely.

Hilton canary wharf also great for larger families as they do large interconnecting rooms (and have a waffle machine at breakfast which my kids Loved). Option of underground and overground or Thames clipper into Central London.

We stayed at the Novotel London bridge last year which was nice,

Meininger hotel near Natural history museum is great. More of a hostel but has family rooms too.
