Cornwall - good bases for ten-day trip

Hi all. DH, DD14, my mum (73) and I are travelling to Europe and UK in June/July 2020 from Australia.
As part of the trip we're planning to spend ten days in Cornwall from July 1st. We will be picking up a car from Exeter and heading out from there.
From my initial research it looks like just about anywhere in Cornwall will be amazing and I'm finding it hard to decide where would be two to three (max) good towns/villages to base ourselves for a few nights each. Can anyone please suggest some good spots? Maybe one mid-sized town and one-two smaller?
We will be driving back to London when we're done so I suppose it might be good to be already on the south/east side as the last stop.
I hope this doesn't sound too fussy! I'm really not but keen to see the most we can of this beautiful area without packing up every morning to move on. Also conscious of my mum's age and that we will have already been travelling for a few weeks by the time we get to Exeter. Thank you! Thanks

I really like the St Agnes/Perranporth area. The beaches are great and it's not too far from the Eden Project which is great. For a larger place I would also say St Ives is a must see if you have never been before.

We always go South and I recommend Mevagissey, The Lost Gardens of Heligan , Charlestown, Llanhydrock (National Trust) , the coastal walk around Gorran Haven / Dodman point ... I could go on!

St Ives is my favourite place in the world! It’s not very easy to find places with parking, but once you’re there you can easily spend a few days On foot pottering round the beaches, galleries and cafes.

School holidays in the UK will start in the second / third week of July, so I’d recommend heading straight to St Ives before silly season starts.

Grew up in Cornwall and it depends what you want.

St.Ives is the most "cosmopolitan" (I use the term lightly) and arty place.

At.Austell has good stuff around it like The Eden Project which is a must visit.

Mevagissy is beautiful and St.Michaels Mount lovely.

South East Cornwall is often overlooked but it's close to Plymouth (Devon) with the Aquarium, Barbican, and shops. Saltash is a nice little town. Looe is quaint and seaside. Seaton and Downderry are cute beaches. Whitsand Bay too. Cothele has great gardens and walks.

Honestly anywhere you go will be worth it. It's my home and in my soul and I will love Cornwall till I die.

Thank you all so much. Yes I think St Ives is a definite. I will check other suggestions too Smile
