Gold mine in North Wales?

Does anyone know whether there is a working gold mine you can visit and have a go at panning for gold in Snowdonia? I'm getting mixed messages from Google...

I'm asking not because I fancy my chances of striking gold but because DS1 is very interested in it all!

Gwynfynydd in Dolgellau apparently, but I couldn't find a website I'm afraid. Could Tourist Info in somewhere like Barmouth send you anything about it?

Thanks very much - I couldn't find one either. I can't work out whether it's open to visitors or not - some info says it reopened recently, others say it's closed. OK well we'll find out when we're in the area.
