London Christmas Trip

Off to London for the day in the run up to Christmas as a treat for the kids (10, 8 and 4). Have booked Circus 1903 which will be at Southbank at 3pm.

At the moment am thinking the timetable could be something like this:
Arrive Waterloo 11.00
Visit hamleys / mooch around
Lunch 12.30
Sky garden 13.45
Bus back to Waterloo
Show 1500
After show a walk round Southbank Christmas market.

What do you think of the above timetable ? Any ideas for good cheap lunch spots? Am
Looking for something fun for the kids that won't break the bank in a reasonable area for the schedule above.

Any other hints and tips welcome.

Thanks

Hello,
The Waterloo Hamley's will be a bit disappointing as it's very small. Instead of Waterloo for 11 I would head for the West End (Charing Cross) and go to Regent Street Hamley's which is the proper one. Then you'll be able to see the Christmas lights on Oxford Street and I recommend the ones on Carnaby Street near Covent Garden as well. Loads of places for lunch obviously.

Up to you but I would personally cut out sky garden and I would go for tubes over buses for speed but totally up to you. With a 4 year old it will be a big day with lots of walking and travelling around otherwise!

Easy to get from West end to Waterloo via either tube, bus or national rail from charing x to Waterloo East (which is same station basically).

Have a lovely day x

I agree with PP - Hamleys at Waterloo is very small and will be disappointing. 1.5 hours spent mooching between arriving at Waterloo and lunch will be hard. You’re best off either going to the Hamleys on Regent Street, or walking up to Trafalgar Square to see the Christmas tree and crib and have lunch in the crypt at St Martins www.stmartin-in-the-fields.org/visit/cafe-in-the-crypt/

Sorry I did mean the big hamleys. Some good tips - love the look of the cafe - a bit different, I think the kids will like it. Thx

If you’re arriving at Waterloo at 11 it’s unlikely you’ll manage hamlets, lunch and be back at sky garden for 1:45.
