we used our ticket to longleat on 2 days, as you can take as long as you like to do all the attractions. we also did glastonbury tor, stonehenge and a day trip to lyme regis to search for fossils - and found loads!

charliecat · 18/08/2007 08:18

If yo8u wanted a bit of history, Bath is a 40 min drive down the A36.

How about Wilton House? They have the most brilliant adventure playground for the children with some heart stoppingly high slides and lovely grounds to wander around in, lovely for picnics.

Salisbury itself is lovely with the cathedral and loads of tearooms etc if you're into that sort of thing. There's also Queen Elizabeth Gardens which is lovely on a nice day, very pretty with a stream for the children to paddle in.

Have a great time!

Further south past Shaftesbury is Monkey World which is fantastic.

There's a program on channel 5 at the mo about it so you can get to know the monkeys before you go, this worked really well with my ds.

and depending on age/gender of your dcs there's the tank museum
