Hi!

I’m planning on taking my 2 1/2 year old for a long weekend in December to London, anyone have any recommendations other than national history/ aquarium etc as I am already going to these.

Also hotel recommendations

the transport museum is good for kids. for hotels, have a look at the vauxhall hotel. have a great time!

We took our twins for a day trip for their third birthday last year. We went to the Transport Museum and looked at the decorations in Covent Garden. Then we went to Piccadilly Circus and the Rainforest Cafe, which is terrible and overpriced but they loved it. After that we walked up Regent St, looking at the Christmas lights, and stopped at Hamleys. They had a brilliant time playing and watching the demonstrations. Finally we ended up on Carnaby St, where we ate cookies, looked at the lights and chose decorations in Liberty to take home for our tree.

The natural history museum is lovely but at 2.5 I’d recommend Hyde park/Harrods food hall/an open top bus tour (all wrapped up ofc). The stereo typical ‘attractions’ like museums...etc will be packed! They always are on a weekend and it can get very boring/frustrating for children at such a young age as there will be queue’s and standing around!

In terms of hotels - would honestly recommend a good premier inn. Central locations, family friendly and generally cheaper than those you’ll find on booking.

We have stayed at the PI’s around kings cross (all were perfectly nice) and it has great tune links to everywhere!

The London Transport Museum is excellent for small children. There’s a play zone for 0-7 year olds and at Christmas time they do storytelling and singing sessions.
Christmas at Kew Gardens is always magical www.kew.org/kew-gardens/whats-on/christmas
The Soundpit at the Southbank Centre looks good www.southbankcentre.co.uk/whats-on/138917-soundpit-201920

Hi there. Hampton Court Palace is amazing for kids of any age - so much to do. It's a bit further out but I would definitely recommend it. You could also do a bus tour which will be fun and you can see the sights at the same time. I have seen an add for something called Keetoo on the site and it's Mumnet rated so may be worth a try. You can see any two attractions they have listed...Looks like you can save a lot of money.
