Things to do on a rainy day in Matlock

We are going to Matlock next week - just wondered what there was for children if it rains? We are coming by public transport, so anything in the vicinity would be fine, as long as it can be reached by bus or train.

There is an indoor play centre very close to Matlock. Are you going to Matlock or Matlock Bath? Matlock Bath has an aquarium, illusion type museum, penny arcades pottery painting.

We're going to Matlock but I'm sure we could make it to Matlock Bath, so will check out your suggestion.

the tram museum at crich doesn't really require great weather - we went in drizzle and enjoyed it.

yes there is loads of stuff in matlock bath, and lots of regular buses and trains between there and matlock too.

You could also do the cable car (heights of abraham) on a rainy day: it'd be less busy then and the best bit at the top is a cave tour so weather-independent.

anyway it'll be nice next week!

if weather is really awful, you could get the bus into Buxton - plenty of shops/cafes and also some caves (Pooles Cavern)

Matlock lido in the Matlock town. Also the playmill in Bonsall near Matlock bath (indoor). Chatsworth House and childrens farm is lovely and has a good playground, should be ok if only light rain!

Haven't you got that Gulliver's place near Matlock? DS has seen it on telly and is desperate to go next time we're up north. Bit of a special day trip, but just wondered if it was any good?

gullivers is fab, very hilly tho so it's a bit of a workout with a pushchair.

Some indoor stuff, better on a fine day but not a disaster in drizzle I guess.
