Ok, not Crieff Hydro. Sounds TOO kiddy. Piperdam looks a bit ... bleak? Also, not Aviemore, done that. My ideal would be detached A frame lodge, possibly in resort but away from madding crowd. Wood burner. Near a pool. Walks and stuff for for kids (9,7) to do within 30 mins drive. Posher than caravan but not Cameron House prices. Travelling from Northern England so not Northern Highlands or islands. Help me, hive mind!

Moness aberfeldy? Not stayed there but used the pool.

Lovely area, close to Pitlochry and house of bruar for a wander.

Peebles hydro often have deals on as well, that's not lodges though just hotel.

Duchally estate near auchterarder. Was pretty cheap and has pool and small play area for kids 5 min drive to auchterarder which is full of cafes/restaurants.

Sounds like a magic holiday.

Tummel Valley is good. Fast flowing river next to the lodges that made supervision a bit stressful though.

I’d second Auchrannie on Arran. The travel is very do-able, and Arran is a stunning place.

I wouldn't recommend Piperdam. Unless they have deep cleaned all accommodation recently. Angus Council Environmental Health has raised concerns.

Such a shame as it's a lovely location and was a great venue when it first opened.
