Nice towns/villages with little independent shops

Can anyone recommend some little villages/towns to visit that I might enjoy?
I love Pickering, Whitby and Helmsley in North Yorkshire. I really like the Shambles in York and lots of places in Northumberland/Tyne and Wear e.g. Tynemouth, Newcastle Quayside market.

I also really quite liked Harrogate and I am going to Bakewell next week. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for somewhere with lots of little gift shops/galleries/craft markets and maybe somewhere nice to eat too.

Thanks in advance, I know it's quite a specific request

Ripon, has a small market on a Thursday and so interesting shops plus a booths supermarket
Pateley bridge also a bit different and a bit hilly. It’s got a fabulous old fashioned herbalists shop..so while the shop looks old fashioned, John Earnshaw really know his stuff
Easingwold is a quaint little town. Friday is market day. Not a lot of shops but some interesting ones and some nice tea rooms

Thanks for all your suggestions!
I keep checking back and there are always more suggestions that look good. I know a couple of these places but the rest are all new to me.
