I need advice for a mini-baby-moon Spa Break!

Hi all,

This is my first time post on Mumsnet, so apologies if I break any protocols, don't use the preferred acronyms, or inadvertently use language considered inappropriate or even offensive!

My wife and I are expecting our first child mid-January. We are both mid-thirties and have demanding careers. As such, I know that my DW needs a wee break before our lives as we know them are torn down, and rebuilt around our brand new DC. A baby-mini-moon/mini-baby-moon if you will.

I'm only looking for a couple of nights somewhere within a couple of hours drive from Edinburgh. Somewhere reasonably priced, preferably with a Spa which caters for mothers to be. I could spend all day trawling the internet looking for suitable breaks and locations, but I thought it best to seek the advice of experts! I am looking for a weekend at the start of December, and I'm open to suggestions/recommendations.

Thanks

B

Matfen Hall has spa treatments for mothers-to-be, for men and for couples. The spa has great facilities including an indoor pool, sauna, steam room and juice bar. There is a range of restaurants and menus on offer so you can choose the ideal dining situation to suit you, or you could try them all! It also has an excellent afternoon tea.
Doxford Hall is another place to look at. Like Maften, it has a spa with mother-to-be treatments and for men.
