One night away, London or close to it

We have the chance to go away for a night /two days without the kids. We will be in London anyway to drop the kids off so are thinking of just a night in a nice hotel in London. We both work there but are always rushing home to the kids so don’t enjoy the city much. Can you recommend somewhere lovely to stay?
Alternatively not far away from London?

Hotel du vin in Henley on Thames. About an hour out of London and my favourite place. In town there are some shops, a little cinema, loads of cafes and restaurants and Hotel Du Vin itself is just lovely 👏

Thank you! I’ve been at Hotels du Vin before and had a lovely time but had heard the brand was not as good these days. Good to know you recommend this!
