Worst hotel in the world

Hi,
So we arrived to a hotel last night which I booked through booking.com and stayed for 1 night. I simply had the worst experience of my life and am traumatized. I stayed with my baby and partner.
For £76 I was hoping for something better.
Will booking.com refund/partially refund if I complain? It wasn't even worth a fiver tbh!
I'm so worried as my son was coughing all night because of the cigarette smell, will have to take him doctors now and see if he's ok.
What should I do??? I can't let this slide!! this place should shut down ASAP!!

What exactly is the problem? You don't need to go to the directors for stake smoke.

inwood · 17/08/2019 07:06

£76 isn't going I get you luxury...

exLtEveDallas · 17/08/2019 07:16

£76? That's a bargain price these days. DH has just paid £70 a night for a Travelodge.

Agree the smell of smoke is not nice, but it won't have harmed your baby. No need for the doc (although if the baby has been coughing all night he may have a cold)

swapsicles · 17/08/2019 07:23

Did you complain at the time?
If you said nothing whilst there theres not a lot the hotel can do.
I stayed at a hotel the other week it was only £36 and I could see why, I did write a review on trip advisor of the good and bad but was not rude or anything just wrote an honest and average review as the problems were minor just there were a lot of them!

LaMarschallin · 17/08/2019 07:25

I appreciate that the hotel didn't live up to expectations, you had a rotten night and are feeling a bit grim this morning.
I also appreciate that the following isn't what you were asking about, but really!

I'm so worried as my son was coughing all night because of the cigarette smell, will have to take him doctors now and see if he's ok.

No, you don't have to take him to the doctors. You are choosing to. Possibly to make a point about the bad hotel and to include in your review/complaint; possibly because you're a bit overly concerned. Why not see how the coughing progresses over a couple of hours when you're away from the smelling-of-smoke hotel?

No wonder appointments are so difficult to get.

pumpkinpie01 · 17/08/2019 07:32

Did you not look on trip advisor before you booked ?

MsSquiz · 17/08/2019 07:49

Did you let reception know straightaway about the smell in the room? If it was so bad it has made your son cough all night, surely it was bad enough to complain immediately?

You haven't allowed the hotel to rectify the situation, and now you want to complain after the fact?

They could have moved you rooms or offered a reimbursement of some kind. They can't fix something they aren't aware of

Teaandchocolatecake · 17/08/2019 07:57

If you think a smell makes it the worst hotel in the world then you have a lot more of the world to see!

Did you complain?

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 17/08/2019 08:19

I'm genuinely sorry you feell like ylu've had a bad experience op but honestly, wow nothing in your post says that this is the worst hotel in the world.

While i appricate smell of smoke isnt delightful if it was stale it wont have harmed your baby if it was coming from one of the other rooms then what they were doing was illegal and you u should have compained at the time.

All i'd expect for £76 these days is a travel lodge style bedroom plain and basic. What were you expecting?

Tramatized? By stale smoke??

Also agree with others absolutely no reason to take your baby to the doctors unless hes still coughing away from the hotel which woukd sughest the coughing is caused by being unwell rather than the smoke

hardyloveit · 17/08/2019 13:07

If the hotel room smelt that bad of smoke that your child was coughing then why on earth didn't you go to the reception and complain there and then and ask for a room which didn't smell of smoke???

TequilaMockingbird0 · 17/08/2019 13:37

You're going to waste a valuable doctors appointment because your son coughed from a smell, that apparently wasn't bad enough for you to mention to the hotel at the time?
What else happened to make this stay so traumatic?

sandyfoot · 17/08/2019 13:40

I think we need more details on how the hotel failed so badly...

Was it just the smell?

sodrained · 17/08/2019 13:59

I stayed in a hotel once in south Croydon it was £60 a night or something cheap like that, I didn't know at the time it was used by the council as a b&b for vulnerable people also, we had prostitution going on, drug dealers outside in and out, the door didn't lock and worst off all the mattress was covered in bed bugs and old blood ffs!

We still stayed there and just spent the whole night awake laughing at what we'd picked without googling. If anyone wants to read reviews this is it. Just seen it's now permanently closed and due to be demolished but I think this review sums it up!

Worst hotel in the world

Also the police was called because two woman were fighting over a client and someone through a 4 pint of milk through our window.

Byorderofthepeakyblinders · 17/08/2019 14:03

Need more answers from you before we can answer;

  1. what made it so bad, you only mention 1 issue of smoke?

  2. I agree the smoke issue isn't acceptable, did you alert reception and if so what did they say?
