Need a list of must do things to, see places to go, places to eat etc.

Have DTDs aged 6 and DD1 aged 15m

Already have on list of potentials
Wookey Hole and/or Cheddar gorge
Street/Clarkes village (new school shoes etc!!!)
Bristol balloon fiesta
Animal Farm bewteen Burnham & Weston

Where is the best beach in the area (staying at Burnham Haven site)?
Do they still do pony rides at Weston?

If they like Steam Trains, you could travel 40 miles down the coast to Minehead, for the West Somerset Railway. There is a gadren centre, signposted on the way back to the M5 from Burnham, that has a fab children's play area. The beach at Berrow is okay for children, and you can pay to park on there (about £3 for the day I think). Street definitely for the children's shoes - clarks shoes for around £15! The pier at Weston's fun for the children - you can see the sea through the pier, when the tide is in! And yes - you can do pony / donkey rides on the beaches!

The beach at Brean is nice but there is nothing there to speak of.

The balloon fiesta is great, I go for the 6am flights. People take BBQs and cook btrakfast

Court Farm is good too.

we went to burnham when dd was 3 months. It was really for OAPS IMO, would nerver go back!!

Have just come back from Brean/Berrow (Northam Farm caravan site) - was at Animal Farm only last Wednesday (so was Shrek). Farm is good but take picnic as food is pricey and not great. Indoor playbarn good if weather too hot or wet, and the walk round the animals is just the right length for small children and has a large pond and slide at the halfway point so good for motivational purposes when they're lagging!

Beach at Berrow is best if you go right to the end by the rocks - parking is £1.50 for the day. However, there was quite a bit of coal dust washed up there last week but should be gone soon. Can't paddle unless tide is right in as it's sinking sand/mud, but when the tide is in the water is lovely and warm.

There's a funfair next to Pontins at Brean which is good for an evening. DS1 (6) begged to go on the Terror Castle (ghost train) with his grandad, but it seriously scared him so unless yours have nerves of steel I'd give that ride a miss. Plenty of others to keep them busy - Caterpillar ride and canoe/wigwam thing is a perennial fave.

Burnham itself is a bit dull for children but good for a wander round shops. Good toy shop in main street for spending holiday money.

I thought Wookey Hole was pricey at £38 for a family ticket so we gave it a miss, but the Cheddar Explorer ticket was the same so I guess that's pretty standard. My children wouldn't have got much out of either, though, as at 6 and 4 they have the attention spats of small gnats. Cheddar was nice, but we just had lunch and a walk round and didn't bother with the sightseeing tickets. There's a little sweet shop where you can watch the sweets being made then buy them afterwards - that went down well.

PIL take their caravan to Northam Farm regularly so we join them for a week each year. We went to Weston last year and there were still donkeys then. Didn't go this year so I don't know. Funfair on pier is good if weather is wet or too hot.
