SCIENCE TYPE MUSEUM - HANDS ON STUFF - IN THE SOUTH

This is very random - I have a vague recollection of a museum somewhere like Basingstoke/Reading? Think it is only a few years old with loads of buttons/levers etc for kids to play with.

Anyone help me out? Sorry it's so vague .... TIA

I think you're thinking of Intech, Winchester. Not been there, but thought the boys might like it. Put it on my list of something to do.....we're not that far away!

lookout discovery park?

NoBiggy · 30/07/2007 23:01

BBBee, have you been there? Do you recommend it?

Its brill my 2 love it! Kids need to be at least school age I would say any younger wouldnt get much out of it. Nice cafe which is reasonably priced. FYI the only picnic area is outdoor and not sheltered so no good if its raining so we sneakily ate ours indoors last time we went, we got away with it but we did see others getting told off!

We love the Look Out - lot of space to run around, big play area, lots of wood to make camps and dens, and the Discovery Centre to look at too. I've got a loyalty card which means we can bomb over there for an hour and go into the Centre as often as we want. Luckily the boys (5 and 3) don't seem to get bored looking at the same stuff each time! Cafe not bad, food can be fair. You can always go to Coral Reef over the road for lunch/snack as an alternative.

Intech is my favourite (though I actually live close to Lookout) as it has more things to do. Lookout is ok though, but little ones seem to spend a long long time playing with the boats.

There is another science center in East Sussex - www.the-observatory.org - not been there. Anyone visited?

God Lookout looks superb.

Bracknell - Lookout (opposite Coral Reef).

scienceteacher · 04/08/2007 17:43

lol- already mentions

The other good thing about Lookout, is the superb adventure playground they have outside.

oooh we love Look Out. Tis one of my children's favourite days out (they always ask to go there) and VERY good value for money (mine are 5 and 6, soon to be 7).
