Nice hotel for weekend in Cornwall not too far from Padstow?

Am trying to book a nice birthday treat for dh and have managed to book at Rick Stein's restaurant in Padstow for lunch but need a hotel with decent accomodation for us and dd and ds for a couple of nights. Somewhere near a nice beach with stuff to do for kids would be perfect. HELP!

We've stayed in Bedruthan Steps Hotel and it is excellet. Ticks all the boxes.

It is between Padstow and Newquay.

Lugger, great location, would be great without children we had lunch there, child friendly it isn't.

I've been in Cornwall in the rain! Trevone is lovely (would be lovely this week).
