The Chocolateteapot Household is melting down and desperately needs a weekend away where stressed parents can return feeling somewhere near normal. Any ideas ?

We are not having a good time and I think if we don't get away and DH get a bit of a break from the children we will explode.

Don't want to travel far and need to be able to stick DH on a plane to Spain if his mother dies in the middle of it. We're in Dorset so an hour or so from here ideally.

We need something where the children can go and be totally entertained and we can completely chill out for a few hours, then stuff close by for us to go and all do later. I need pampering and relaxation. And please don't have a go at me for wanting to dump my children in a holiday club - we've never done it before but have no relatives who can have them even for a few hours and are more shattered than I though possible.

I'm off to make lunch and get out of here for a few hours but if anyone has any ideas of where we can go they would be very gratefully received.

Ickworth Hotel too....but maybe too far

PrettyCandles · 28/07/2007 14:13

Knoll house is super, but I don't think they do pampering (unless they've added it in the last couple of years).

Lullabyloo · 28/07/2007 14:14

think they do some treatments

Lullabyloo · 28/07/2007 14:15

Yup...they have a health spa/beauty treatments

Moonfleet is nice but shabby - and may be a bit close to you. Overall I think we preferred woolley grange - and near Bath and Longleat and so on, so a bit more to do as well.

Thank you all, I'm going to sit down and have a good look through when it's quiet here later and work out where to go. Just thinking about it makes me feel a bit better !

Beetroot, after over 3 days of everything being withdrawn my FIL decided he couldn't do it anymore and got them to restart food/fluids again. So we have until however long it takes for someone to die on not many calories a day when they weigh 6 stone and are in a coma and liable to have another stroke at any moment. And he's decided he's not moving back to the UK afterwards, he's 81 & had a triple bypass 4 years ago.

DH has been over 3 times in the last year, the last time he said his goodbyes as she wasn't expected to last the week then. He feels she went when she had the last stroke and I don't think he really wants to see her non-responsive as she is now so we've decided not to go.
