Hello

So thinking of going away in the UK in August with a 1 year old and nearly 35 weeks pg. Live in sw London so south west easy to get to. Where should we go?

Went to Bournemouth last year which was perfect for baby so somewhere similar would be good.

If I want PG we would go somewhere sunny so finding it hard to find inspiration

I went to the Isle of Wight when pg and had a lovely time. Getting there is part of the fun – and at just 40 minutes long, the ferry journey is just long enough for babies and toddlers with a short attention span. Once you get there, it’s jam packed with family friendly attractions and days out. Some my favourite days out include the Steam Train, the model Village at Godshill and of course exploring the glorious beaches.
When we went on the steam train we parked at Wootton (free parking) and took the train to Smallbrook, and then back to Havenstreet, where we played at the playground, went on the nature tail and had a picnic. At just over 20 minutes long, it was perfect for toddlers who don’t like to sit still.
It takes about an hour to enjoy the model village and notice all the intricacies and detail of this mini Isle of Wight. One of the best bits is the replica railway with trains riding on the tracks moving dinosaurs and tigers!
There’s also the donkey sanctuary where toddlers can meet the donkeys, and stroke them, and take part in additional activities such as brushing them.
Ventnor is a rather up market town on the south side of the island. As well as the sand / shingle beach there is a free paddling pool in the shape of the Isle of Wight. When we were there, it was full of toddlers who were splashing and playing in the paddling pool while their parents watched.

Ha @ricekrispie22 have to laugh at your description of Ventnor as upmarket! I used to live there and I bet most other residents would be surprised. It’s a great town with a few interesting shops and good beach and cafes/restaurants.
Seaview, Bembridge and Yarmouth are the real upmarket towns - Yarmouth out west is kinda near the Needles which has a fun mini fairground thing going on. It has nice shops too.
But your kid is too young for much other than getting into that sand and surf. But agree Isle of Wight a good option and straight down the A3 from London.

Thanks both. Good idea, haven't been to the IOW since the 90s so could be a good option. Will check out some hotels!
