Where would you take your DC in the UK for a treat?

I've just realised that I've got 4 days spare in August and can probably justify spending about £1000 to take myself and DS1(8) and DS2(4) somewhere. I'd probably like to stay in the UK because flying would be a faff

where would yo chose to go? Are there any hotels / cities / resorts you'd recommend? I'm really interested in child friendliness - I want the DC to have a fab time.

Thank you for your help!

Wow. St Ives is my fave. Have stayed at Tregenna. Lovely and nice little pool for the kids. Can't go wrong with St Ives. Book surfing lessons on Porthmeor if you fancy some adventure.

How about Hunstanton?? Traditional Victorian seaside place, with Kings Lynne about a 20 minute drive away or a really good bus link, for a more modern shopping excursion!!
Quite a few hotels, lots of B&Bs-I highly recommend Ellinbrook Guest House, very child friendly & great hosts, great breakfast & they dont mind you using a table in their breakfast room for an evening take-away meal!!
Lots of places to visit around Norfolk which are a short drive away or under an hours drive-Sheringham is lovely!!

I'd choose Yorkshire. City of York and all it's attractions, Flamingoland nearby and a fab Wildlife park.
