As our family holiday fell through for various reasons, I am looking to take my boys away somewhere in the UK for 7-10 days at the end of August. We've always visited family abroad, so don't even know where to start looking! They have GP in south wales, so that bit of the country we've done extensively.
They like history, beaches, not-too-long-walks and are always impressed by anything remotely hilly. We live in SE, but I drive, so anywhere is open at the moment!

Skye would be lovely.

We went to the giants causeway last half term and were stunned by how wonderful NI is.

Oh both sound great!

Northumberland has beaches, castles, Harry Potter and some hill forts ( although Skye has much better mountains)
Arran also has good mountains and the fun of a ferry.

I know you have done South Wales to death but what about snowdonia?
So much to do there, brilliant beaches and castles galore. Theres also the bounce below place and the zip wires now.

www.real-family-holidays.org/ These are utterly brilliant and really good value

You said South Wales but did that include West Wales (Pembrokeshire)?

My two loved it when they were the ages yours are. We've done all the castles and nearly all the beaches over the years.

They are older now and wanting to return on their own Smile

The coastline is breath-taking.

Oh I had not really thought if west Wales or North Wales. Added both to my list! Grin

Same age as my boys and they loved the Isle of Wight last year.

Jurassic Coast in Dorset to go fossil hunting?

North wales ( particularly snowdonia) is amazing. Loads of activities, mountains, lovely beaches, national trust places. We went 3 years ago with then 7 and 12 year old boys and had probably the best holiday ever. Itching to go back again!
