Warwick castle and Cadbury world

Hello lovely people
I am thinking of doing a visit to Warwick castle and Cadbury world during the school holidays.
Planning on getting afternoon tea tickets at Cadbury world for my dd for her birthday

Any idea if the 2 places can be done in 1 day?
Ideally I would like to spend a bit more time at Warwick castle and not have to rush but we are also planning on a trip to Stratford upon Avon either the day before or after so would like the minimise the number of nights away as we have 4 adults and 2 kids going.

Thanks very much
Xx

No way - Warwick is a full day at least and Cadbury a bit less but still not half a day.

CMOTDibbler · 05/06/2019 14:10

Warwick is def a really full day, and Cadbury World half a day, so it wouldn't work

Queenofpi · 05/06/2019 14:25

Warwick Castle is an awesome day out, but needs a full day and could easily fill 2 days if the weather is nice. Much more worth visiting than Cadbury World imo.

tardyheart · 05/06/2019 14:26

I agree with the PP's Warwick really is a full day, and there is plenty to see. Cadbury's is a 1/2 day.

There is plenty to do in Stratford-upon-Avon to fill a day too, such as Anne Hathaway's cottage, Shakespeare's school room, theatre visits, rowing boats, butterfly farm, etc. What about Afternoon tea in Stratford, there are a few different Tea-room type places.

Ditch Cadbury World. Stay in Stratford and spend a whole day at Warwick Castle. How old are your kids?

SavoyCabbage · 05/06/2019 15:00

Forget about Cadbury world.

Angrymouse · 05/06/2019 15:14

Thank you for all the responses lovely people!
The more I look at TripAdvisor for Warwick castle and Stratford the less I want to go to Cadbury world..seems like a waste of time and money! Just have to convince the hype loving kids and maybe treat them to a bag of cadburys chocolates instead!
They are 11 and 8 years old...guess the 11 year old wants to eat cadburys more than visiting!

Love the afternoon tea idea at Stratford upon Avon instead.
Will research more into that.

I agree with the others - do Warwick Castle and Stratford. The Butterfly Farm is lovely 🦋

I haven't been to Cadbury's World for years but it wasn't that great when I went.

CMOTDibbler · 05/06/2019 15:35

Theres a nice place in Stratford that usually has a Groupon for afternoon tea and does gluten free (if thats an issue for me).

The MAD museum in Stratford is ace if your kids love to do hands on stuff

Warwick castle is great if a bit expensive.

We gave Cadbury world a one star rating on TripAdvisor. The biggest load of hype ever.
If you do go please avoid the warm cup of melted chocolate at the end. 2 of our family of 5 had that and were both being sick within 2 hours of consuming it. My biologist DH did warn us that a big vat of fatty sludge kept warm at blood temp for hours was going to be a risk for food poisoning. Guess we should have listened.

IJustWantToWearDungarees · 10/06/2019 23:38

If you want to avoid Cadbury World then Stratford has an amazing place called Hoorays which does a million ice cream flavours, waffles, pancakes, etc - basically a child's afternoon tea heaven!

Brokenfurnitureandroses · 10/06/2019 23:43

Cadbury World was amazing when I was a child. Brought my own kids recently and it was pretty bad. You can’t see the chocolate being made anymore - many of the signs are explanations stating that the production is now somewhere else. Hmm

howwudufeel · 10/06/2019 23:44

I loved the warm melted chocolate at the end of the Cadbury tour!

GreenTulips · 10/06/2019 23:46

Thought CW was a rip off - extra for photos ride etc and not much in the free chic department AND the shop was more expensive than normal shops

Mumof1andacat · 10/06/2019 23:54

Warwick castle is a whole day. So much to see. Stratford upon Avon is lovely. Nice park area and can do a river trip

rollingpine · 10/06/2019 23:56

the production is now somewhere else

^this

It's such a shame that an iconic national treasure should have gone so far down the pan.

TheNumberfaker · 11/06/2019 17:10

I second Hoorays for amazing ice cream. Check the RSC out for any events on. The view from either the RST tower or the Big Wheel is great too.
