Day out near Weston Super Mare?

Looking for recommendations for somewhere for a half day out within, say, half an hour of Weston or Burnham on Sea.

We're taking an elderly relative out for lunch and ideally would like to go somewhere in addition to food for a couple of hours. What we'd really like is somewhere for our 3.5 year old to tear around/play/burn off some energy, but which is also suitable for an elderly lady with mobility issues to sit and watch/have a coffee/bit of a potter and which is accessible (no wheelchair but she uses sticks).

Would really appreciate recommendations of anywhere that might fit the bill! Anything like a garden centre with playground, stately home-type place with grounds (didn't have much luck with National Trust website), etc would be great. Ditto any recommendations for pubs/places to eat with a play area!

Or Cadbury garden centre. No soft play but they do have animals.

What about Puxton Park? It's about a 15 min drive from Weston. Has a nice restaurant, I think. Lots to do for your child. Perhaps not quite what you had in mind? But we've been (a long time ago though) and it was lovely.

Glastonbury abbey? It's about 40 mins from wsm and had a big open area and I think a cafe.

I'm 30 minutes from WSM with a 2 year old so I'll list a few suitable things.

Water Adventure Playground, Grove Park, Clarence Park and Ashcombe Park, all in Weston, have a cafe and play area and are all accessible with parking near by.

Further out you have Puxton Park, Cadbury Garden Centre (has a small soft play area), Sanders Garden Centre (has a small outdoor play area), Brean Play, Apex Park in Burnham, Bishops Palace in Wells.

Another vote for Clevedon.

A proper English seaside resort. I love it.

Court Farm Country Park has a nice tearoom which serves light lunches and really good cakes. There are also plenty of picnic areas. They do free tractor rides, there are plenty of animals to see and there’s both an indoor and outdoor play area so it’s ok if it rains! They have ramps and disabled access around the farm in all the barns and the car park is very close to the entrance.

The open-top buses from Weston are fun and you can travel on them all day for a reasonable price- could get out at Kew Stoke for a nice pub lunch then bus again to the quiet lovely beach at the bottom.

Our DS would love that but sadly DMIL can't won't get on a bus....

Although if anyone knows of anywhere with one of those little trains aimed at preschoolers....

Tyntesfield National Trust. Loads of play areas and good cafe. Love it there.

Tyntesfield would be difficult for an elderly person with mobility issues

They do have a mobility bus connecting the two areas, including the younger children’s play area near the coffee shop. Granted they wouldn’t be able to access the whole site though.

Slimbridge is a bit further than half an hour but would Def fit the bill. It's where I go to suit my Nan and my kids! You can borrow mobility scooter, and tons for kids to do and see. Food is good, little pricey but you can eat it whilst watching the flamingos!

Avon Valley has a mini train, although it would be about 50 mins away. Possibly there is something closer! www.avonvalley.co.uk

Love Slimbridge. Wild Place Project may fit the bill if you're heading up the M5 too. However the paths are not as smooth as at Slimbridge. www.wildplace.org.uk

Clevedon has a mini train too, although I've never been so not sure what days it runs. There's a fb page for it.

Thank you again! Some great ideas here. Tyntesfield might be a bit far as we're coming from the other side of Weston but would potentially be a good option for us in terms of breaking the journey.
