best beach near Bristol/ Bath?

Desperate to find a nice sandy beach- we're actually in Bath. Really don't like Weston Super Mare so ready to travel to Wales , Devon or Dorset if necessary. If it could be less than 2 hours away it would be fab.

burnham on sea has a nice beach and is around 1hr 15mins drive from bath x

I'd go a bit further and go for Woolacombe or Saunton or Croyde in N Devon.

Weymouth

The Gower, eg Southerndown is about 1h40m. Or head down to jurassic coast/Weymouth area. We love Lyme Regis so we can visit a sandy beach and a fossil beach too. Everywhere on the Bristol Channel is a bit muddy.

Swanage, Barry, or head for the Gower.

Wales - Merthyr Mawr, is lovely, though it's a bit of trek across the dunes to get there, or if you want to be able to park right by the beach, Ogmore-by-Sea is basically an extension of the same beach.
