Thinking of booking a long weekend away somewhere.

We live in the south west, it doesn't need to be far away but equally we're happy to travel. I'm on maternity leave so would like something that doesn't cost the earth either!

I was thinking maybe early September so hopefully the weather is still reasonable but the kids are back at school and everyone is broke and/or fed up with entertaining their kids so places are quieter at weekends.

In September our baby will be 10 months old.

I'm after somewhere self catering (lodge/caravan/cottage etc) with things to do suitable for a young child nearby eg beach, pool, zoo, farm etc. (although again, happy to travel within reason)

Any suggestions?

I’d definitely recommend this place in Suffolk www.bucksfarm-holidays.co.uk if it’s not too far for you to travel.

Looks perfect but it's over 4 hours away. Will probably bookmark this for when he's a couple of years older and would get the most out of it

Weymouth, or Dorset coast generally? Things should be less expensive once schools start again - make the most of it while you can!

Remember that baby won't remember any of this holiday, but when they're bigger they'll love to look at the pictures of themselves! Also, for the same reason, build in some things that you and your OH want to do too.

We're not far from Dorset (or East Devon for that matter). Weymouth may be a good shout actually, it's not far and plenty to do there. May have to go and have a look and see what is available

East Devon is nice as is the north Devon coast neither are as busy to Torbay. Pembrokeshire is our favourite but further for you
