Airport transfer from Gatwick

Can anyone advise on the easiest way to get from Gatwick to a station on the West of England line (e.g. Woking, etc)? I have family flying in from abroad. They need to get down to me near Exeter by train. They usually fly into Heathrow and come via coach to Woking then train. But what are the options from Gatwick?

Reading is usually best to get to

Gatwick Express train to Clapham Junction, then out from there to Woking?

Or this:

Longish though...

Cross country to Guildford or Reading and change?

Train to Woking from Gatwick either change at Clapham or change at Guildford.

Depending on how many people, time, luggage etc, it could well be worth considering a prebooked taxi.

I reckon it'd come in around £60-70?

Its really easy from Gatwick as the railway station is in the airport. Train to Reading, then change for Exeter (fast train), or Gatwick to Clapham Junction, then change for the slower stopping train
