Devon with teen and pooches

We haven’t been on holiday for years and have no one to have our dogs -can’t afford/like idea of kennels.
So I’ve booked a BaRGaIN dog friendly break to Devon- I mean I’m always the bargain queen but I’ve found a blinder of a deal- and I’m sooooooo excited!

Haven’t told DD yet in case we don’t end up going but I can’t help wanting to plan a few days out.
Going in August Sunday-Sunday.
Have found some dog friendly beaches, a place with a waterfall trail thing, water sports (gorge scrambling and kayaking) and dolphin boat trip.... can anyone recommend any other cheapish days out? Beaches to visit? Activities?

Staying in Dartmoor and willing to drive to beaches in east Cornwall/north and south Devon.

I’d recommend a trip on the South Devon Railway. The line runs for 7 miles from Buckfastleigh to Totnes, along the stunning valley of the river Dart, with a backdrop of beautiful Devonshire hills. There is plenty to see at both ends of the track, and trains also stop at Steverton, which has some stunning riverside walks to the nearby village. Dogs are welcome onboard.
The House of Marbles at above Tracey is also well worth a visit and admission is free. You can watch glass marbles being made which is fascinating and there’s an amazing collection of large interactive marble runs to play with. There’s also a toy museum, pottery museum, a great shop and a restaurant.

Does she like mooching shops? Day trip. To Totnes. Lots of lovely small shops.

Boat trip from Ilfracombe on Devon Princess. Don't go on the small ex Lifeboat trips, we had an awful experience on that one, thought I was going to die, no joke.

It's worth checking out the dog beach guide for each district council, the town beaches are mostly restricted in summer for dogs but in Devon there's plenty that aren't (just don't expect facilities). Dartmoor is beautiful and walking is a good free activity - get your dd a map and compass and teach her to plan routes (the os app is brilliant btw but nothing beats a map imho). Exeter is nice to visit and the walk down the tow path to the locks is nice (no mud either!) I recommend the pub (double locks) my dog was welcomed. The doggiepubs website is our bible for holidays!

We stay in Putsborough every summer, it's the quiet end of Woolacombe beach and dogs can be on the beach off lead all year round. It's fantastic. There is a small area of beach where they can't go but have access to about a mile and a half of the beach where they can run free.
