Staying in London near West End theatre

Hi, going to London to see a West End Show. Don’t where where to stay. Can any one recommend somewhere good to stay?

Looking for a reasonably priced place, not dirt cheap, but not expensive either.

Recently stayed in a Z Hotel in Soho, they have a few in that area, worth checking, good value.

Strand Palace Hotel is central and reasonable for the West end.

If there are two of you then we’ve stayed at the Park Grand London Paddington & the Park Grand London Hyde Park and been very impressed

As a family we’ve stayed at various Premier Inns. Our favourite is South Kensington Earls Court.

Recently we’ve started to use the Travelodge Southwark.

Both the above are a little further out but convenient fir the tube Premier South Kensington is very handy for Hamilton & Wicked & the Travelodge is walkable to Waterloo or you can walk across the bridge to Charing Cross near quite a few theatres.

The strand palace hotel is perfect. It's such an easy / short walk from Waterloo & places like Covent Garden or Trafalgar Square And was reasonable. Well recommended.

London hotels are so variable - the price you pay often has little correlation with the quality of the hotel.

Premier Inns are a safe bet but not always cheap - it does depend on location and dates.

Depending on which theatre it is you could easily stay a bit further out and get the tube/taxi or even walk. If you are travelling into London a hotel near to your station might be easier - leave bags there and get the tube to the theatre.

South Kensington has a Holiday Inn that is often good value. It also depends on what else you want to do while you are there.

Depends which Theatre really - they are quite spread out. There's a huge Travelodge right at the top of Drury Lane and another one just across the road next door to the Shaftesbury Theatre.

Tavistock Hotel is a good budget option on Russell Square, a short walk from Covent Garden

No idea what budget you have, but if you want something nicer than this but not 5, then try Strand Palace (although under refurbishment right now) or Amba Charing Cross. Waldorf can come out reasonably priced (compared to other 5) sometimes.

I aldo like the Radisson on Mercer Street but it can be pricey.

What's your budget? Are you prepared to travel in from a burb or prepared to pay to be central? Which theatre?

We've easily walked to theatres from Premier Inn County Hall.

Dopzoneone - Thank you for suggestion Tavistock. I have just there. Clean and comfortable and reasonably priced (for London). Nice bar area and although is big, never felt busy. Ie. No queues at breakfast. Good location also.

South ken/Gloucester rd area is an easy hop on the tube, Russell Square area has older style hotels but walking distance. In university holidays, halls of residence offer affordable accommodation
