I went several times as a teen with my parents - quite some time ago now! I’m looking forward to taking DD there but she’s only 15months and there isn’t much there for tiny ones so we’ll probably wait a couple of years.

I always loved going there, but as I say, it’s been a long time so I can’t guarantee it’s still great. I know it’s been expanded and extended a lot since I’ve been.

It's been going about 40 odd years hasn't it? They must be doing something right Smile

Yes, something like that, maybe longer! They definitely have their loyal fans.

One thing that concerns me slightly is that I read it’s a buffet for all meals now - it used to be a buffet for breakfast and lunch and proper restaurant service in the evening. But the buffet lunches were always pretty good so it’s not necessarily a bad thing.

It looks like the evening entertainment might have gone a bit ‘low-brow’, too, but there’s no compulsion to go to that, of course.

Tbh I’d go back right now if DH would agree! He’s never been and thinks it looks like an old people’s home. But I’ll win him around sooner or later and I’m sure he’d enjoy it when there.

It does look excellent value for money, if a bit dated.

Has anyone been recently?

A year or so ago as part of family group. Food is rather traditional, greasy spoon style with a soup and salad bar and veggie option. Self service in a large dining hall. Activities are ok and good value, although some facilities need updating and it has a bit of an old school art room feel . Not all activities are available during each stay period so check the timetable in advance to get an idea (they release the actual timetable a week or so ahead). The pools and waterslides are smaller than they look! Rooms are akin to travelodge and 80/90s decor but were gradually being updated.
