Where to go for family break in UK in March!

We'd like to take our 3 and 1 year old on holiday before baby no. 3 arrives. This means going in March/early April.

Has anyone got suggestions for areas/self-catering/hotels that could work at this time of year in the UK? We like high end accommodation, independent shops/eateries, attractive architecture/views and a good selection of activities to keep DC's busy. Hopefully we'll get a few dry days where we can get out and about, but it's what we do on the wet days that concerns me!

We have a bow 3 year old and we have been going to the Isle of Wight. We go park resorts but get the really upgraded caravans or lodges so we are away from the normal holiday goers (so it's very quiet) we then go out a lot to go to the eateries around the island. It has some lovely places and really toddler friendly Tapnell farm and the butterfly farm to name a few. Plus it being south you get slightly better weather.

My family live in Norfolk which is also a lovely place to visit. Tons of national trust sites, Norfolk broads etc.

Keswick. Great views and loads to do if the weather is good, but also loads of nice shops and places to eat and good things for kids to do. There’s a ‘hard play’ which makes a nice change from soft play.

How about this hotel? www.foweyhallhotel.co.uk/family-friendly-hotel

Where are you and how far do you want to travel? Bath and Brighton have a lot of what you've asked for.

Cheltenham is lovely. We stayed at a great Airbnb five minutes from the town centre and there were lots of parks within a short walking distance. The closest was Pitville Park, which was a massive play area. Let me know if you want the link to where we stayed.

Ooh thank you for all the replies. We're happy to travel wherever in the UK, so all these sound like great suggestions. I'll start looking at them Smile

Depends where you are. I wouldn’t want to drive more than 4-5 hours with a 1yo in the car. You also won’t want to do much walking if you’re heavily pregnant. North Yorkshire is very nice if you’re not too far away.

Clydey cottages in Wales are very nice, and the activities are ideal for your DC's ages.

This where I'd go (with DH and our toddler) if we weren't so far from Wales!

A PP mentioned Fowey Hotel, it's part of a small chain of luxury family friendly hotels. We stayed at the Ickworth which was lovely although I concluded that I'd prefer self-catering, ideally a luxury cottage/lodge with a separate bedroom for DC so we don't have to creep around the hotel room when he's asleep!

Anywhere here's the website in case you do fancy a hotel rather than self-catering:
