oh good , we're going in a few weeks with ds (9) and dd (5). Any recommendations for days or short trips out ?

Are there washing machines either in the cottages or on site - trying to avoid overpacking !

Are there any basics in the kitchen (ie washing up liquid and cleaning stuff), any tips please ?

Just back , and had a really good time. Weather variable but still managed 3 afternoons on the beach with plenty else to see/do within a short drive and on the farm itself. Enough privacy per cottage but plenty of facilities for the kids - play ground , trampoline , indoor soft play barn, pool, tennis. We found some basics in the kitchen (washing up liquid, Cif, dw tablets and dishcloths)and sufficient cooking equipment. Worth knowing there are some communal washing machines and dryers plus a selection of dvd's and games should the weather be iffy. You can borrow all sorts of essentials too - spades, buckets , fishing poles, body boards etc. Wellies a necessity though , especially if you are planning to feed the animals, visit the lake and zip wire or walk down to the village as path is v muddy. Crocs won't cut it, lol !!

Hi Lizs

We've just got back from Cornwall too (returned late on Friday night) - we must have been very close to you, in Caerhays, just near Megavissey. The weather was surprisingly good, except for Sunday which we spent in the Eden Project.

We stayed here:www.nicheretreats.co.uk/enginehouse/enginehouse.htm
which was absolutely lovely.

Did you get to the Lost Gardens of Heligan? Definitely my favourite day out, although the children preferred 'Dairyland' theme park which was ghastly!

lol yes we were probably within a short distance of you on the Mevagissy side of St Austell . We went over to Gorran Haven a couple of times and ate out in Mevagissy on Friday. We did Heligan too but the kids soon tired of it, having preferred Eden, and it rained so we left for the beach (!). Managed to avoid Dairyland (thank God!), it looked a bit empty when we drove past and the kids decided they were too old !
