Longleat is great if you are very outdoorsy and like to exert yourself - it's very hilly and everything is far apart.

Elveden is great if you want to try CP but without the long cycle ride to get to all the ammenaties. It's a great little "taster" place as it's all very central.

my favourite is Sherwood.

slalomsuki · 20/06/2007 12:43

Oasis is my favourite

AngryMob · 20/06/2007 12:43

Sherwood

I've only been to the Lakes....it was lovely with lots of red squirrels running around.

We're going to one in Belgium in October though

I like Sherwood and Oasis. How old are your children - what do they/you like doing? Oasis is a bit different to the others, but the other 3 are pretty similar IMO so we decide which on how far we want to drive - often picking Sherwood as its the closest !!

I've been to both Sherwood and Whinfell (CPs trying sooo hard to lose the "oasis" bit)

Sherwood has more restaurants that are more family based ie Hucks, pancake house etc but Whinfell has more up market restaurants. I prefer Sherwood as it is flatter so good for little legs. Whinfell has nicer accommodation but now they are revamping all the comfort and comfort plus to be the same I think Whinfell will lose this a little bit. Think Alpine Ski Lodge for Whinfell and discreet hidden away villas for everywhere else.

Am going again to Sherwood in a few weeks and venturing down to Elvden next year (We live in Yorkshire so that is more of a trek)

Whinfell does have a lot of things in the centre that are under cover if the weather turns bad as does Elvden.

I'm going to say it again PANCAKE HOUSE -delicious mmmmm making me salivate! Portion sizes are big there so if you have a sweet one go for the "small" children's size

EdieMcredie · 04/07/2007 15:28

Which one are you closest to?

ThomCat · 04/07/2007 15:29

There's no such thing. Don't do it!

How old are you children and is there really nowhere else in this world you'd rather go, that isn't enclosed with crap restaurants?

EdieMcredie · 04/07/2007 15:30

Oh I love it TC!!!

ThomCat · 04/07/2007 15:33

Ohhh God!

Rubbish food, badminton, farking biking everywhere.

Give me a car and the open road any day.
I'd like to explore a town and discover restaurants and cute shops. Take a boat ride, pitch a tent, visit a museum, take a stroll along the beach, anything other than bloody Centre Parcs!

ThomCat · 04/07/2007 15:33

Sorry

Have a lovely time, don't mind me!

EdieMcredie · 04/07/2007 16:28

I like all that stuff too but me and DP went to CP after a particularly horrible event and to just be on our own and have fun together was amazing. We had a good experience with the food, and swimming/badminton and stuff was such a laugh.

It does depend though, it's not for everyone

ThomCat · 04/07/2007 16:31

Yes I'm being a bit mean, it wasn't ALLLL bad but just not my cup of tea at the end of the day.
