Where to eat in central Winchester

My husband and I are having our annual one night away from the kids in Winchester this year and we're looking for somewhere nice to eat within walking distance of the centre. Preferably not one of the standard chains.
The Chesil Rectory looked like a winner but they're fully booked.
Does anyone have any recommendations please?

The River Cottage restaurant is lovely. It’s a chain but still great.
