We are looking for an interesting weekend away with our 11 yr old dd. Would there be much for her / us to see and do in Liverpool?

Yes, lots for an 11 year old to do in Liverpool. What are they especially interested in?

collywobble · 29/10/2018 22:38

Watching with interest as my daughter is at uni in Liverpool and we have teenager boys who find the wonderful museums in Liverpool dull

My two are only 9 & 7 but I take them to my dad’s at Birkenhead every summer - he lives on the river, looking across to the liver building. I think it’s an amazing place but haven’t had a grumpy teen there yet!

New Brighton - could you hire bikes and head along the flat promenade from Birkenhead? Must be other good bike rides, maybe along the canals towards Manchester?
Beach at Formby has huge sand dunes and is beautiful.
Speke Hall national trust but much older than most so quite nice.
Port Sunlight
Promise a stop at Cheshire oaks on the way home?!
Visit Chester / Manchester / Blackpool

Liverpool is a fantastic city.

What is your DD into?

There are museums, art galleries, theatres, an arena for big shows, a thriving city centre...

L1 shopping centre, google it, loads of restaurants, cinema, shops etc.

Lots of tourist attractions (not sure whether a 11 year old would want to do tourist things).

Food places, I imagine five guys would be classed as cool to kids, Nando's, kasper desert place (don't know proper name)

Independent Liverpool (in Facebook) is also a good shout, lots of restaurants and things to do.

If she likes cats there's a new cat cafe open, I toon my younger sister recently

I love Liverpool and so will your 11 year old.

The World Museum is really good.

If you want a complete contrast to Liverpool, very close as the crow flies then - if the tide is right- walking across the sands to Hilbre Island is good. We saw a young seal really close up the first time we went, and lots of bird life.

For trampolining try Spring City, on Brunswick dock, not far from the city.
Magical mystery taxi tour for all things Beatles.

Go up st John's beacon where Radio City broadcasts from, Albert Dock and the wheel, the Climbing Hangar or Awesome Walls for climbing, a nerf gun place 5 mins walk from the Lambanana, Iron Men on Crosby beach, VR experience, 2 cathedrals to explore.

Lots to do Grin
