Luxury Hotel in the South West of England/ Wales

This is blatant piggy backing on the thread about a luxury hotel in the North of England but it is so useful to have these threads and I am looking for similar for a special night away but in striking distance of South Wales so West or Mid Wales, South West Devon, Somerset, Dorset (Cornwall too far), Wiltshire, Gloucester etc.

There were some fabulous suggestions on the Northern thread so please hit me with you Southern delights!

Not so much a luxury hotel, but a bloody good place to stay, with excellent cooking and comfortable rooms is The Lamb, at Hindon, which is in Wiltshire.

In Devon I would recommend the Horn of Plenty at Gulworthy, the Salutation at Topsham, Gidleigh Park, Lympstone Manor and Hotel Endsleigh at Milton Abbot.

Chewton Glen which is actually Hampshire but close to Dorset border

The Gainsborough, Bath.

The Angel in Abergavenny or St Brides in Saundersfoot.

Ooh lovely ideas. I will also add the Felin Fach Griffin - it's pub with rooms really and not luxury but comfortable and laid back with incredible food. Lovely paired with a day out in Hay on Wye.
