Can anyone recommend somewhere lovely, but not too posh, in London for afternoon tea with the girls? Preferably with cocktails or some kind of alcohol!

What's your budget and any particular area you want to be in. There are loads of places for tea.

Look on Bookatable - lots of 'bottomless' afternoon tea deals. I've done the Marriott near the Eye, very nice. A hotel behind Harrods, can't remember the name, rather posh, small though. Good food. And one behind Fortnum and Mason's which I wasn't impressed with - cold empty dining room, bit like a conference room.

Hotel near harrods wasn't over posh though, felt comfortable.

The scones at the Savoy are to die for!

B bakery in Covent Garden is lovely and would meet all your requirements.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I’ve looked at a few places and they’re around £40-£50, so don’t mind paying for something in that price range. I’d rather not go to somewhere to ‘stiff’.

Wowcher have an offer on till mid December, tea with bubbles at the waldorf astoria hotel near covent garden, its only 39 pounds for two and a lovely place to eat, we used to have brunch there for special occasions. You can walk it off in Covent garden, for some chrisrmas shopping, its near waterloo and charing cross stations

Drink Ship and Do's afternoon tea near King's Cross looks really fun!

Look on group on. We had it at southerby's once amongst the art works due for auction, not sure if they still do it but it was reasonable.

The Frida Kahlo inspired afternoon tea (with choice of margarita or champagne) at the Lanesborough opp Hyde Park Corner is totally fab ✨✨✨✨✨

The Sanderson does an Alice in Wonderland tea which is really nice and not childish at all.

I would try going to a smaller business for something with a bit more character. Teahouse theatre in vauxhal has an excellent tea menu.

These all sound fantastic, thanks everyone.
