What to do in London, this Sunday?

Looking for suggestions;

I have all day (well, till mid afternoon) this Sunday to spend with my mum in London.

We've done the sights a million times. We are having a nice afternoon tea the day before. Can anyone suggest a nice way to spend Sunday? Completely open to all and any suggestions, though my mum definitely isn't a museum goer.

Thanks in advance!

Walk in one of the great parks and a pub lunch?

Kew Gardens- see the newly refurbished Temperate House. Or Columbia Road flower market?- standard Sunday kind of outing...

I like the idea of the flower market!

Thanks for the suggestions so far

Walk along the Thames or a river trip. What does she like doing.

There's an artisan fair on at the Truman Brewery this weekend, crafts and food, it's not that far from Columbia market.

The artisan fair sounds good. She would love Borough market but we already have a full Saturday and it's closed on Sunday.

She will enjoy being with me, just having time to mooch about etc. I guess I can think of the obvious stuff but wondered if anyone had any lesser know gems to share!

Spitafields market

breakfast/brunch somewhere swanky, wandering, people watching along the Thames. Look at DaysOutGuide website if you are going by train, there's loads of 241 deal on there. Good to hear about the Trueman Brewery, I may go for a poke about there! There's a new exhibition about the Romanoff/Czars/Russian Royalty at the Science Museum, free, but you need to book, dh wrinkled his nose so we won't be going. I am going to look at the whale skeleton though, at the NHM we missed it by a couple of weeks last time we were down.

Most of these are dependent on the weather!

  1. Kew Gardens -I love all the glasshouses and the Tree top walk

  2. get a canal trip from Camden lock to london zoo and then walk up to primrose hill with fine views of london and then pub or cafe/restaurant- back down the hill to Great Portland Street tube.

  3. take the tube to Hampstead, have a mosey round the boutiques/shops and cafes or head to Hampstead Heath and have lunch in one of the pubs on its fringes - the Wells tavern, Freemasons or the Garden Gate. It head right across the Heath to Kenwood house ( has cafe), parliament hill and back to Hampstead.

  4. Spitalfields and Brick Lane - lots of craft stalls, shops and cafes (vintage market and curries in brick lane!)

  5. Selfridges then lunch in St Christopher's place and a mooch round the shops there

  6. Walk from London Bridge past the Golden hind and the Globe to Tate Modern - get lunch along the way or at the Tate. Catch the riverboat from Tate modern to Tate Britain past embankment and Westminster - Pimlico tube is near Tate Britain.

  7. Do the London Bridge bit but then from Tate modern go to St Paul's across the not now wobbly bridge.

  8. Southbank - from embankment - lots of cafes, restaurants, buskers etc

  9. Covent Garden - walk from Leicester Square up Ling Acre, wander round the shops and greet performers, cafes and restaurants
