Nice places to eat/pubs in Lake district (Kendal Area)

DP and I are going away next week for a few days in a cottage near Kendal in the southern part of the lake district. We are both unfamiliar with the area. Wondering if anyone has any tips for really nice places to eat in the area, or say within 30/40 mins drive? Also some good pubs?

Budget we are easy on really (ish!)

Love this place!
Also Wilfs cafe and the hawkshead brewery in the old mill yard at Staveley are great.

The Drunken Duck and Old Stamp House, both in Ambleside
The Hazelmere Cafe and Bakery and nearby Cartmel village shop deli-cafe for the best sticky toffee pudding. The deli also serves lovely quiches and sandwiches for picnics.
Comida in Kendal serves amazing tapas but also does a good breakfast.

The Mason’s Arms, Strawberry Bank. Lovely old pub, but heaving at weekends.
A bit further afield, Chester’s Cafe at Skelwith Bridge.
