Traveling from Manchester airport station?

I have an EU flight that gets in to Manchester Airport at 8.50am.

I then need to take a train from the airport station.

Is booking the 10.20am train realistic? Or should I wait for the 11.20? I'm hoping an hour and a half will be enough to clear customs and make my way to the station, but I don't know how long queues are or how the station connects to the airport.

Any advice appreciated. Thank you!

I would say it should hopefully be fine if your flight is on time. At that time passport control should not be too bad. Is it the first flight of the day do you know? Also perhaps avoid checking in luggage so you don't have to wait at the carousel. It can really slow you down. Once out of the airport the station is not too far away.

Thank you for fast reply! Um, I'm not sure if it's the first flight of the day but it must be one of them. And it's not a super budget airline so hopefully it'll be ok.

Will just bring hand luggage and hope immigration is swift!

Where are you getting the train to? Do you need to book is it that much cheaper, can't you just get a ticket when you get to the station?

The station connects to the airport by a walkway. It's quite a long walk depending on terminal but allow at least 5 minutes. If you are going to Manchester city itself or local you don't need to book ahead however if it's a distance then booking would save you money and time cos there is often someone at booking office who doesn't speak English trying to book a complicated journey.
If you are going to city centre suggest you use metolink instead of train as there are multiple stations within city including main stations
